Lower Eyelid Bags

What is Lower Eyelid Bag Surgery?

Under-eye bag surgery is a procedure designed to address puffiness or bulging under the eyes, which can make the eyes appear tired, the face look aged, and diminish overall facial harmony. The condition typically results from weakened and sagging skin beneath the eyes, causing fat deposits to accumulate and form noticeable under-eye bags.

Causes of Lower Eyelid Bag

Genetics – Some individuals develop under-eye bags at a young age due to inherited fat accumulation patterns beneath the eyes.

Aging – In older adults, skin laxity, tissue weakening, and structural deterioration allow fat to protrude, often accompanied by dark circles.

Medical Conditions – Heart disease, kidney disorders, high blood pressure, or allergies can contribute to swelling and discoloration under the eyes.

Lifestyle Factors – Inadequate sleep, dehydration, and stress can impede circulation, leading to fluid retention and visible under-eye puffiness.

How to prepare for Lower Eyelid Bag

Disclose medical information: Inform your surgeon about any pre-existing medical conditions, medications, or dietary supplements you are taking.

Get adequate rest: Ensure you are well-rested before the procedure to support recovery.

Avoid alcohol: Refrain from consuming alcohol for at least two weeks prior to surgery.

Consult your surgeon: Discuss any specific restrictions or additional preparations required for the particular type of surgery you will undergo.

Post op care

Rest adequately: Keep your head elevated for the first 1–2 nights after surgery to help reduce swelling.

Protect the incision: Avoid getting the surgical area wet until your doctor advises otherwise.

Manage minor bleeding: If bleeding occurs, gently dab with sterile gauze—do not rub.

Maintain cleanliness and medication: Keep the incision clean and take all prescribed medications exactly as instructed by your surgeon.

Apply cold compresses: Use cold packs for the first 48 hours after surgery to minimize swelling and discomfort
