Ptosis

What is Ptosis (Eyelid Muscle Weakness) and How Can It Be Corrected?

Ptosis, or eyelid muscle weakness, is a condition where the upper eyelid cannot fully lift, causing it to droop over the pupil. This can affect one or both eyes, making the eyes appear tired, sleepy, or asymmetrical, which may impact both facial aesthetics and vision.

At One Surgery and Aesthetics Clinic, we have summarized key observations and benefits to help patients better understand eyelid fat removal surgery and ptosis correction.

Eyelid Fat Removal Surgery: Key Observations and Benefits

To support your decision-making, One Surgery and Aesthetics Clinic has compiled the key benefits and precautions of the Sub-brow Lift procedure for you.

Key Observations for (Ptosis)

Individuals may exhibit the following signs:

  • Drooping eyelids: Difficulty fully opening the eyes, with the upper eyelid covering excessive portions of the pupil.
  • Asymmetrical eyes: One eyelid droops more than the other, causing uneven appearance.
  • Raised eyebrows: People may unconsciously lift their eyebrows to compensate for drooping eyelids, which can lead to forehead wrinkles and strain while trying to improve vision.

Benefits of Ptosis

  • Enhances eye openness: Reveals more of the iris, creating a naturally bright and round eye appearance.
  • Improves vision: Reduces obstruction caused by drooping eyelids.
  • Boosts facial aesthetics: Addresses tired or sleepy-looking eyes, giving a more refreshed and alert expression.
  • Reduces forehead strain: Correcting eyelid droop eliminates the need to constantly raise the eyebrows, reducing the appearance of forehead wrinkles.

This procedure not only restores eye functionality but also improves overall facial harmony and confidence, making it an ideal solution for both aesthetic and practical concerns.

How to prepare for Ptosis

Disclose medical information: Inform your surgeon about any pre-existing medical conditions, medications, or dietary supplements you are taking.

Get adequate rest: Ensure you are well-rested before the procedure to support recovery.

Avoid alcohol: Refrain from consuming alcohol for at least two weeks prior to surgery.

Consult your surgeon: Discuss any specific restrictions or additional preparations required for the particular type of surgery you will undergo.

Post op care

Rest adequately: Keep your head elevated for the first 1–2 nights after surgery to help reduce swelling.

Protect the incision: Avoid getting the surgical area wet until your doctor advises otherwise.

Manage minor bleeding: If bleeding occurs, gently dab with sterile gauze—do not rub.

Maintain cleanliness and medication: Keep the incision clean and take all prescribed medications exactly as instructed by your surgeon.

Apply cold compresses: Use cold packs for the first 48 hours after surgery to minimize swelling and discomfort
